Dolomite is a natural calcium magnesium carbonate ( CaMg(CO3)2 ) and widespread as a rock worldwide. Due to its formation, it naturally often occurs together with limestone, also as dolomitic limestone with low MgCO3 contents.
In Europe, dolomite is very common in the high mountains or the marginal mountains. It is mainly formed in the four rock series Devonian, Zechstein (Upper Permian), Muschelkalk (Middle Triassic) and Malm/White Jurassic (Upper Jurassic).
We produce dolomite in the form of granules and flours in a wide range of grain sizes. They are characterized by high homogeneity, purity of at least 99.0% CaMg(CO3)2. Dolomitwerk Jettenberg produces ground, milled and calcinated dolomite. You can find a delivery program here and some short explanations below. Ground dolomite
Dolomite grains in sieve sizes 0.1 – 0.5 – 1.0 – 1.25 – 1.6 – 2.0 and 4.5 mm are required for applications with chemical requirements as well as structural raw materials; e.g. for glass production, for ceramics as building material in mineral feeds and for drinking water filtration.
On request, they can be supplied individually or in combined loading as a total fraction. All fractions come from the same treatment process and thus have the same chemical composition.
Milled dolomite
Milled dolomite in the finenesses 90 my, 63 my, 32 my and 20 my are produced from the pre-crushed and dried dolomite stone in grinding and classifying processes. We produce very homogeneous and white dolomite flours for a wide range of filler and process applications.
Dolomite fillers are characterized, among other things, by a higher density, specific grain shapes and individual rheological properties compared to, for example, limestone flours.
Calcinated dolomite
Calcinated dolomite is produced by treating the dolomite at roughly 800°C (half-calcinated dolomite) or roughly at 1000°C (fully calcined dolomite)
Half calcined dolomite (Semidol) is produced according to DIN EN 1017 for the drinking water industry.
Calcined dolomite is also used for animal food, air cleaning and metallurgy
